In a first for “Idol,” the show is going to add a last-second audition city: Los Angeles.

In celebration of the series’ momentous 10th anniversary and in an effort to give tens of thousands of hopefuls the opportunity to audition, American Idol will host auditions in Los Angeles beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22.
The 10th season of American Idol premieres January 2011 on FOX.
“This summer we have had an exceptional turnout – both in the number of people auditioning and the level of their talent,” said Idol executive producer Ken Warwick. “Los Angeles has always delivered great talent, and so we feel it only fitting that we end our 10th season audition tour here in our home city.”
This could be interpreted in multiple ways. “Idol” only used six audition cities this year as opposed to seven most previous years. So this is now the seventh city. While Warwick claims the level of talent has been strong, this
