Rihanna Goes Topless For ‘Esquire UK’

by American Idol Blog on May 17, 2012

We’re worried that catching  Rihanna wearing next to nothing all too often will one day desensitize us to the pop star’s regularly half-naked body, and we’ll start yawning whenever RiRi decides she’d be much more comfortable without a shirt on. Thankfully, today is not that day. New pics from RiRi’s upcoming spread in Esquire UK have surfaced online, and we’re drooling like usual.

Fun. is having a bit of fun with  Gotye ‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” — the band covered the smash single for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, and nabbed Paramor e ‘s Hayley Williams for Kimbra ‘s part. Everything starts out alright, but frontman Nate Ruess can’t reach the same range as Gotye during the chorus, and by the time Hayley (who only appears via prerecorded vocals) joins in, the whole number turns shaky and comes off like karaoke. As overplayed as it might be, we’ll stick with the original, thanks

It’s nice to see that Lady Gaga isn’t all work and no play while on her Born This Way Ball tour . Especially since her concert set apparently is so grueling, Mother Monster claims it’s a good night if she doesn’t puke from its intensity . Thanks to good ole photographer  Terry Richardson , we have yet another voyeristic look into life on the road for the pop star. The “Government Hooker” steps out on the town in fishnets, a studded leotard with matching platform shoes.

No more drama! The American Idol Top 2 are revealed tonight. Who will join Phillip in the finale ? Have we all pretty much resigned ourselves to the fact that he will win? You can just tell by the sound of female screams and panties dropping in the audience, and all the girls pressed up against that chain link fence for a sniff of that grey shirt! This week, the contestants went home , Jimmy Iovine sent them the latest product he’s pimping out, and then he chose the best songs for them.

We love how creative lyric videos are getting, and Taylor Swift ‘s “Eyes Open” lyric vid takes it to a whole new level. Instead of just showing the lines of her Hunger Games -inspired song flash across the screen, the clip employs handwritten words filmed in stop-motion. It’s quite a delight, even if doesn’t exactly evoke the tone or setting of District 12. Swift’s “Eyes Open” and “Safe & Sound” both appear on the soundtrack to The Hunger Games , in stores now

Gossip are getting a taste of the Cannes, and it’s pretty bitter. The group performed Elton John ‘s “Candle In The Wind” during the opening ceremony of the film festival, though we can’t say they recieved the warmest reception. The crowd stayed mostly silent during the performance, forcing Ditto have to ask, “Are you alive?” We can’t particularly blame them for their lack of excitement — their arrangement sounded off, and Beth fumbled with the lyrics a bit. “Tough crowd!” she exclaimed halfway through the song. “You know what they say, you can love it or hate it, I still get paid.” Thankfully, the group fared a bit better when they performed their single ”Perfect World” for the Cannes festgoers on Le Grand Journal .

Our pop hearts grew heavy today (May 17) when we learned that diva, disco pioneer and First Lady Of Love  Donna Summer   succumbed to her battle with cancer. She was just 63 years old. Her music not only touched our hearts, it moved through us — making our toes tap, our hips shake and our legs carry us onto the dance floor. Thanks to the music icon’s longtime collaboration with Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, our shoes were worn thin dancing to “Love To Love You Baby”, “I Feel Love” and “Hot Stuff”
