Katharine McPhee has been able to get more acting roles than most “American Idol” alums but she apparently won’t be competing with Jennifer Hudson for an Oscar in the near future.

Her latest gig is “Shark Night 3D.” Her role has not been identified but it sounds like she’s one of the stars.

- For the CMA Awards, Carrie Underwood’s “Play On” received an album of the year nomination and for the fifth year in a row, she was nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. She won that vocalist of the year title from 2006 to 2008, supplanted last year by Taylor Swift.

- Fantasia, fueled by all the publicity over her suicide attempt and the moderate success of her single “Bittersweet,” sold 117,000 copies of her latest album “Back To me” to land at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 behind only Katy Perry.

- Ian Bernado, who filed an EEOC complaint accusing “Idol” of discrimination over his treatment on the show and asking for $300 million has dropped that suit in favor of one in federal …
