f5f07520d x 294x300 Simon Cowell quitting U.K. version of ‘X Factor’ to focus on American versionThe U.K. Sun reports that Simon Cowell is planning to quit judging “X Factor” in the U.K. to focus on his American version set to debut in the fall of 2011 on Fox.

“I have a contract for this year and that is it.”

There’s no doubt in my mind he’d like to unseat “American Idol” from its throne because now he’d have ownership. Could he do it? Never count him out. He now has the biggest summer show with “America’s Got Talent.” Sure, “American Inventor” didn’t work out but he has a knack for this stuff both behind the scenes and in front of the camera.

- Bert Weiss of Q100 this morning said Chris Daughtry and his wife (at the NASCAR  race at Atlanta Motor Speedway over the weekend) spent time at his house for a barbecue. He said Daughtry, when not out touring, is reclusive and low key. No surprise there.

-Variety says “Idol” this week is set to finally announce the judge’s panel this week. Please, do it! We are sick of this speculation already. Just tell us it’s Jennifer Lopez
