Friday night is ousted American Idol contestant night at the If I Can Dream house, and this week, Aaron Kelly dropped by to have dinner, answer twitter questions and perform a few impromptu tunes. After the jump, Aaron jams in the living room. Who knew he played guitar? Check out more videos of Aaron, answering twitter questions and sharing spaghetti and meatballs with the dreamers, at Rickey.org .

I’m digging iTunes studio recordings from Crystal Bowersox , Lee DeWyze and Mike Lynche this week. Aaron Kelly and Casey James ? Not so much. Check out my reviews, and click on the You Tube links to listen for yourself.

Aaron Kelly made a stop at the Ellen Degeneres Show to chat about his time on Idol and sing a song. After the jump, listen to Aaron sing Sara McLachlan’s “Angel”. Too bad Aaron’s mom couldn’t be in the audience. Today was Ellen’s big Mother’s Day show.

Filed under: Interviews This week’s ‘American Idol’ results show was a bit of a shocker, since most fans had guessed Casey James’ lackluster Frank Sinatra performance would be his ticket home. But when the week’s ejectee was announced, it was 17-year-old Aaron Kelly who was sent packing, after crooning Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me to the Moon.’ In the weekly post-’Idol’ elimination press conference, Kelly talked about his experience as season 9′s “little brother,” about working with rumored Simon Cowell replacement candidate Harry Connick Jr., about who he wanted to take to the ‘American Idol’ prom and about what fans might expect from an Aaron Kelly album. Read the interview after the jump.

Aaron Kelly spoke with the press today, and I was pretty impressed with his maturity. His parents could not raise him, so his aunt and uncle adopted him, and have obviously done a really excellent job! Aaron was an American Idol Experience winner–that’s the Idol attraction down in Orlando. Aaron talks about what that experience was like. He also namechecks his favorite mentor, and is emphatic about what genre of music he sees him self pursing. He’d love to have a connection to Disney, but he sees himself pursuing a country music career

Aaron Kelly’s exit interview Thursday morning was unexpectedly inspiring, mainly because his journey truly is the “Idol” dream realized, and proof that the machine works.

Given his dismal rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “Blue Skies” on Tuesday night, Casey James seemed like a shoo-in to get the boot on last night’s American Idol results show. (”I honestly thought this was pretty bad, and a bit patronizing,” our guest blogger Elliott Yamin said of Casey’s performance.) Alas, it was 17-year-old Idol pipsqueak Aaron Kelly who was voted off—while Lady Gaga stole the night with her skin-baring performance of “Alejandro.” Watch below! As we predicted , Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze remained safe this week. Where the upset came from was the fact that it was Casey James joining them on the lucky side of the stage, while Michael Lynche—who turned in a stellar take on Ol’ Blue Eyes’ “The Way You Look Tonight”—found himself in the Bottom Two with Aaron Kelly.

We learned some important things on the “Idol” elimination show tonight. Among them: Harry Connick Jr. is funny in a vaguely discomfiting but also rather winning way. Sometimes the group numbers don't actually stink.

Filed under: Recaps Who was kicked off on ‘American Idol’ tonight? Aaron Kelly went home after singing ‘Fly Me to the Moon.’ It was probably just a matter of time before Kelly was booted from ‘Idol,’ and the 17-year-old’s failure to nail the classic song from the Frank Sinatra songbook Tuesday night turned out to be the final straw for ‘Idol’ voters, who voted him off over Michael “Big Mike” Lynche. After an overly dramatic opening montage, the proceedings began with an awkward group medley of Sinatra standards in which Crystal Bowersox apparently eschewed the usual pre-recorded vocal track. A telling sign, we wonder
We're using a new interface this week, but Idol Tracker's weekly chat will go on as scheduled at 1 p.m. PDT. Our guest on this go-round? Season 7's David Hernandez, who'll try and help us make sense of Sinatra night — the highs and the lows
