With American Idol Season 10’s Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina’s currently riding high in the charts — McCreery’s Clear As Day is #4 in its second week on the Top 200, while Alaina’s Wildflower debuted at #5 this week — news has come that Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox has parted ways with her label RCA/Jive. (Jive itself was folded following a recent restructuring of parent label RCA.) This follows the announcement from earlier this month that Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze had been dropped by RCA . This marks a rather unceremonious capping-off of the 2010 American Idol season, which signaled Simon Cowell’s last run on the series before exiting to launch The X Factor in the States. It was also the year that Ellen DeGeneres made her lackluster debut at — and quick exit from — from the judges’ table.

Whether they were watching from the comfort of their couch or took the walk down the red carpet inside the Nokia Theater to watch it live, many of the ghosts of Idol past (and a few from the present, too) shared their thoughts on last night’s finale . Check out Twitter reactions from Adam Lambert, Pia Toscano, David Cook and more after the jump — plus, you won’t believe which hip-hop star wants to work with Season 10 champion Scotty McCreery . Just as Scotty was declared the winner, Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox offered this blunt tweet: “Ugh. That’s all.” Poor timing for her sentiment that actually had nothing to do with the results.

Our favorite upright bass-playing, beard-sporting jazz aficionado, Casey Abrams, received the lowest votes for the second time during his tenure on American Idol , but last night, he didn’t have another Judges’ Save to keep him on the show. Season 10’s quirkiest contestant was voted off, but he didn’t leave the Idol stage before giving the best kiss-off send-off in the history of the competition. Watch Casey say his goodbyes, and check out Bruno Mars and Idol alumni Crystal Bowersox perform below. Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox brought the studio down with “Ridin’ With The Radio” from her debut album

Crystal Bowersox performed a new, yet-to-be titled song at the Midland Theatre in Newark, OH last week. The poignant tune was written shortly after the death of her friend Mark Brink. Video: revanisms Watch the performance after the JUMP… http://www.youtube.com/user/revanisms#p/u

A brand-new Crystal Bowersox video from VEVO finds the Season 9 runner-up singing an acoustic “Mine all Mine” at the Austin Power Station. I’m assuming Crystal filmed this when she was in Austin last month for the SXSW music festival. Watch Crystal sing, beautifully as always, after the jump.

Last month Crystal Bowersox took the stage at our Pray For Pop showcase during South By Southwest and served up electrifying acoustic versions of such Farmer’s Daugher jams as “Finally Got It Right,” “Mine All Mine” and “Kiss Ya.” But turns out there’s one more Mama Sox surprise we held over for you—a video interview with the American Idol Season 9 alum, which we conducted outside the venue where our event took place. Watch below! Crystal spoke with us about recording the “labor of love” that is her LP. “I knew what kind of album I wanted to make before I tried out for the show,” she pointed out.

Oh, American Idol –you wicked, wicked beast. We’re literally still reeling and crying into our Corn Flakes over the scandalous, far-too-soon exit of our Season 10 Idol Power List fave Pia Toscano from the show. But she’s hardly the only upset viewers have had to endure since the series hit the air way back in 2002.

Over the past week, we posted Crystal Bowersox’s performances at our Pray For Pop SXSW party , news of Lady Gaga putting the final touches on her upcoming Born This Way album, a retro-sounding remix of Kylie Minogue’s “Put Your Hands Up” and video of Jennifer Hudson’s return to the American Idol stage . Oh, yeah—and Chris Brown’s publicist finally decided to spare herself the daily migraines by parting ways with the temperamental singer . It is David Bowie without the beauty or otherworldly excitement. It is just so bad, like the first single.

We’re still recovering from SXSW 2011, but before we hang up our cowboy hats until next March, we want to thank everyone who Pray-ed For Pop along with us Austin and across the globe — specifically the fans who entered our postcard contest. Below are the personal notes to our five lucky Idolator winners from Crystal Bowersox , Neon Hitch , Miguel , Oh Land and Eliza Doolittle. Their sentiments are the same as ours: wish you were here.
