Justin Bieber is keeping his fans on their toes in the lead-up to new LP Believe (out June 19). With “Boyfriend” still riding high on the charts, the 18-year-old swag connoisseur hit up the Billboard Music Awards last night for a performance of the hit single, while Bieber’s Canadian pal Carly Rae Jepsen and mentor Usher also took to the stage. But it looks like he’s adding some new names to his circle of friends. Upon tweeting out a photo of his Believe tracklist, it was revealed that hit-maker Ludacris will feature the album’s opening track “All Around The World”, while Big Sean appears on possible next single “As Long As You Love Me”

The 2012 Billboard Music Awards are in full swing. Justin Bieber picked up the first award of the night for Social Artist, thanking his manager Scooter Braun, his mentor Usher , and, of course, all his fans. After a moment of silence for the passing of Bee Gees ‘ Robin Gibb , Katy Perry took the stage to accept the Spotlight Award. ”This is cool! They told me the only other person who’s received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honored to be in the same category,” said Katy while accepting her award. “Although I don’t compare at all!” Check out the as-yet announced list of winners below.

Now we finally know what that 30-minute film made by Kanye West is called: Cruel Summer . Of course, given that the short flick is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next week (on May 24), and by April 25 West (who is writing, directing, producing and scoring) had yet to start any work on the thing, he might have called it Cruel Spring . The passing of disco legend Donna Summer , who died yesterday (May 17) at the age of 63, has inspired many musicians, singers and artists to pay tribute to the iconic singer. Beyonce wrote a brief but touching blog post about the disco diva on her official site , paying respect to woman who helped pave the way for other female artists (including Beyonce) to rule the charts and the dancefloor. Add Matchbox Twenty to the ever-growing heap of returning bands who first found prominence in the ’90s. A press release issued today notes that the Rob Thomas-led quartet have teamed up once again with producer Matt Serletic for their first album in 10 years, North . The LP is due out on September 4, and will be preceded by the single “She’s So Mean” sometime in June. And believe it or not, this will only be Matchbox Twenty’s fourth album since 1996 (f you don’t count their 2007 release Exile On Mainstream , which contained seven new songs and a second disc of previous hits)

After Adele ‘s 21 moved another 101,000 copies last week in the lead-up to Mother’s Day — and subsequently moved back up to #2 on the Top 200 chart in the process — the Grammy-winning LP has now crossed the 9 million mark in sales here in the States. The London songstress’ sophomore effort also racked up its 64th week inside the Top 10 this week, and is now tied with Paula Abdul ‘s 1988 release Forever Your Girl for the second-longest run in the upper-most tier of the chart among albums by women. The longest stretch for a female in the Top 10 was achieved by Alanis Morissette , who notched 72 weeks with 1995′s Jagged Little Pill .

Donna Summer passed away today (May 17) at the age of 63, but the disco queen leaves behind a lasting legacy that will not soon be forgotten. Upon hearing news of her death, the music and entertainment community has come out to offer condolences and share their pain at losing such an iconic voice and influential presence.
