After a mind-blowing first results show, during which at least one of my fellow bloggers threatened to quit over the results, I had some random musings about what we’ve seen. Not quite as random as the voting public, I don’t think, but I’m sure you’ll correct me in the comments section. I think Ashley Rodriguez had at least two big strikes against her. One, she was pegged to win it all, even though we’d hardly seen her and had heard her even less.

The women, or should I say girls, look like they raided their mommies’ closets on Tuesday night’s “American Idol.” They looked like they were playing dress-up! While Idol is a singing competition, no one can argue that a contestant’s look is a factor as well. And since that is the case, each individual needs to find their own unique style. But, each person should dress their age, be appropriate. I thought many of the women looked great; Ashley Rodriguez (sorry to see her go!) and Lilly Scott come to mind
For any of us who thought the judges' constant flip-flops were a fluke, bizarro “Idol” continued on Thursday night with the first Season 9 eliminations — two girls and two guys. The unfortunate foursome: Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Muñoz and Tyler Grady. While not entirely shocking (three of the four didn't exactly have a stellar semifinal night), the mixed bag results were a bit surprising.

Filed under: Music Who got kicked off ‘American Idol’? Janell Wheeler, Ashley Rodriguez, Joe Munoz and Tyler Grady. Wheeler, Rodriguez, Munoz and Grady were booted tonight on the first round of semifinal eliminations. After a gender-crossing group performance of Estelle’s ‘American Boy’ in which both the guys and gals traded verses, the cuts began right away
The Top 12 ladies kicked off the Season 9 live shows with some great song choices. A quarter of the girls sang songs by The Beatles. There were many modern song choices and a few timeless songs performed.

Here we are America, the Top 24, well half of them, are finally taking the stage and singing. Yes, singing! That thing that has been suspiciously absent for the entire audition process despite the fact that American Idol is a show about singing. That all changes tonight when the Top 12 girls take the Idol stage and serenade us with Hot Billboard Singles from 1958-1972 and 2003-2010. Hopefully more of them go with our positive recommendations , instead of sullying themselves with the song suicide that’s among our worst picks
After weeks of determined but mostly delusional auditioners, the final judgment is upon us as Season 9's Top 24 are officially announced. Yesterday's episode rolled out seven contenders. Tonight, we learned the identities of the other 17. Read on for the full list..

The Haiti “We are the World” sessions a couple weeks ago gave Jennifer Hudson a primary line. Jordin Sparks and Kat McPhee were relegated to the chorus. I wonder why Carrie Underwood didn’t make it there. – Season 8’s quirky Megan Joy Corkrey (who now just goes by Megan Joy) has decided to follow Kat McPhee into film with a small role in the upcoming Farrelly Brothers film “Hall Pass,” which starts production here soon
