Stevens also performed a cover of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” a song she said she wanted to sing on ‘Idol’ but never got the chance

After a little chat with Dave, Idol bootees Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia sang Chris Brown’s “Superhuman” on the Late Show with David Letterman Monday night. Uhm. Maybe they didn’t have much time to rehearse? Yeah.

Check out highlights from Andrew Garcia and Katie Stevens’ visit to the If I Can Dream house Friday night. Over dinner, they discussed Ryan Seacrest’s strange behavior last week, what they think of the judges (they like Ellen) and their trip to Vegas. After dinner, Andrew and Katie jammed with housemate and Top 24 contestant, Alex Lambert .

As has become a Friday tradition, we spent the evening having dinner with the week’s eliminated “American Idol” contestant at the “If I Can Dream” house. Only on this go-round, there were two of them. Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia joined the Dreamers, which now include former Top 24 contender Alex Lambert , for taco night, filling them in on “Idol’s” early mornings and jam-packed days, which were especially rough on 17-year-old Katie, who had to attend school at the same time. We all learned a lot about the process (like how individual contestants get only 15 minutes with the mentor!), and about these hopefuls, who’ve survived every form of critique — good and bad — in their two-plus months of competition

Katie Stevens tweeted this photo earlier today, with the note, “At lunch eating sushi with @andrewagarcia ” Yep. Now that Katie and Andrew Garcia are off the show, they can tweet to their hearts content. Andrew’s address is @ andrewagarcia and Katie is tweeting from @ katiestevensai9 . The two will be singing a duet on The Late Show with Letterman on Monday.

Continuing Idol Tracker's weekly series, Top 9 contestant Katie Stevens reflects on her time in “La-La Land.” The 17-year-old Connecticut native, who claims she's never had a tan, was clearly in awe of our fair city and its nonstop sunshine. She also fills us in on what the “American Idol” judges are like up-close (Randy Jackson has “really awesome sweaters” and “teeth that sparkle;” Kara DioGuardi is “even more beautiful” than she is on camera) and draws us a peculiar character: Robertasoraus, the Herbivore (we'll have to ask Katie about that later at the ” If I Can Dream ” house). Page 2 of her questionnaire after the jump…

Katie Stevens is 17 going on 30. She’s an incredibly mature, well-spoken young woman. It’s no wonder she had difficulty when the judges told her to “go young.” Was Kara or Simon right about the music direction she should go in? Katie sees her self as a Kelly Clarkson type–a pop artist with R&B leanings

Filed under: Interviews And then there were seven. This week’s double elimination on ‘American Idol’ means we’re awfully close to the Top 5, where a lot of people predicted Andrew Garcia would land when he wowed the judges and the viewing audience with his stripped-down cover of former ‘Idol’ judge Paula Abdul’s ‘Straight Up.’ But a string of performances that tarnished Garcia’s standing led him to the bottom three last week and, along with the Kaherine McPhee-ish Katie Stevens, to the door this week. In a weekly press conference call, Garcia talked about the viral video hit performance of ‘Straight Up’ and how he felt the judges have been especially harsh this season, while Stevens talked about what genre she’d like to be performing, how she’s proud of accomplishing something special for her Grandma, and what she would have performed next week (hint: It was one of McPhee’s most memorable performances). Maybe there’s safety in numbers. American Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced at the outset of tonight’s results show that more than 34 million votes were cast Tuesday — the biggest total of the season so far. And lo and behold, that teeming mass of voters actually made some fairly reasonably picks. After last week’s disastrous near-elimination of Michael Lynche, America woke up.

After Tuesday's performance show, we asked most of season 9's Top 9 (Tim Urban eluded the question somehow) for their favorite Adam Lambert moment, be it from last year's “American Idol,” his career since or their Vegas experience with the season 8 runner-up as their mentor. Read on for some major Adam adoration… Siobhan Magnus: “Just meeting him was incredible; his presence is really big and he's just so positive and genuinely kind. He said he would figuratively be throwing glitter at me, and I felt it up there.” Lee DeWyze: “Last season, he was amazing.
