With American Idol Season 10’s Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina’s currently riding high in the charts — McCreery’s Clear As Day is #4 in its second week on the Top 200, while Alaina’s Wildflower debuted at #5 this week — news has come that Season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox has parted ways with her label RCA/Jive. (Jive itself was folded following a recent restructuring of parent label RCA.) This follows the announcement from earlier this month that Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze had been dropped by RCA . This marks a rather unceremonious capping-off of the 2010 American Idol season, which signaled Simon Cowell’s last run on the series before exiting to launch The X Factor in the States. It was also the year that Ellen DeGeneres made her lackluster debut at — and quick exit from — from the judges’ table.

It was almost a year ago that Lee DeWyze was crowned the Season 9 winner of American Idol , and what has the former paint salesman done in his first year of pop stardom? Dropped his debut album, Live It Up , to disappointing sales ; released a super-saccharine lead single that failed to chart on the Hot 100; and… well, not much else. Let’s hope his upcoming world tour helps DeWyze pick up some steam as he enters year two. Dates below.

Last year’s American Idol winner Lee DeWyze hit up Lopez Tonight to perform his sleepy ballad “Beautiful Like You,” i.e. the song he crooned on AI the night Karen Rodriguez got the boot last month. It’s kind of a given that the first rushed album an Idol winner puts out is inevitably going to be pretty much of hodge podge of tunes, given the amount of cooks in the kitchen involved. But we can pretty much declare with confidence that this elevator-ready track will never, ever grow on us the way, say, “Tattoo” or “Miss Independent” or “Live Like We’re Dying” did

Filed under: American Idol , TV Replay The season nine winner of ‘American Idol’ (Thu., 8PM on FOX) has struggled in the sales charts thus far with his debut post-’Idol’ album ‘Live It Up.’ In fact, it premiered with the lowest sales of any prior winner. After watching Lee DeWyze’s performance of “Beautiful Like You” on the stage that made him famous(?), we think he deserves more. Sure, DeWyze is the third guitar-playing, crooning pretty boy in a row to win the crown, but he showcased a seasoned vocal on this performance that is more than worthy of success. Perhaps he’ll experience the ‘Idol’ bump that most artists get after performing on the show
