It's no secret that “American Idol” has long had a stable of go-to songs — Gavin Degraw's “I Don't Wanna Be,” Aretha Franklin's “Think,” Heart's “Alone” are just three that more than 15 contestants have tackled over the years — and certainly no one is under any pretense that these hopefuls are actually allowed free reign over all of music history (or at least what can be cleared). Still, in speaking with Lilly Scott upon her return to Denver on Thursday, we got the distinct impression that maybe the producers weren't all that keen on her “quirky” manner after all, particularly when it came to song choice.

Lilly Scott sang “Lullaby of Birdland” on the Ellen Degeneneres Show today. In her post-performance interview, Lilly expresses gratitude, rather than the bittercakes from her post-Idol interviews. Ellen gives Lilly tons of encouragement. She’s definitely a fan.

Filed under: Interviews In season nine’s first truly surprising results show, the ‘American Idol’ pack was cut down to 12, and Alex Lambert, Katelyn Epperly, Lilly Scott and Todrick Hall aren’t among them. We talked to the final four to almost make it to the top 12 in the weekly post-results show conference call, and most of them expressed their surprise at being cut. Also surprising: Some of their opinions about being on the show; let’s just say Lilly expresses some sentiments that could fall into the “sour grapes” category.

American Idol Shocker!

Spoiler Alert – if you haven’t heard the news about who went home on American Idol tonight… do not continue reading. I have to say 2 of the contestants who were eliminated were completely shocking to me. Katelyn Epperly and Lilly Scott – when each was announced I literally gasped and could not believe my ears.

Filed under: Recaps Who got kicked off ‘American Idol’? Katelyn Epperly, Todrick Hall, Alex Lambert and Lilly Scott. It comes as perhaps no great shock that Epperly, Hall and Lambert were sent home during ‘American Idol’ eliminations tonight, since their performances over the past few weeks have been uneven at best.

by Tom on March 11, 2010

Who are your favorite American Idol girls this season? Have you been blown away by anyone in particular? Do you think the girls this year are as strong as previous contestants? My problem with the American Idol girls this year is that most of them seem to be choosing slow, boring, and dragging songs

Lilly Scott singing a contemporary version of Patsy Cline’s ‘I Fall to Pieces’.  Once again Lilly showed us how ‘quirky’ and unique she is with her brave version of ‘I Fall to Pieces’ tho I can’t decide if she reminds me of Bjork or a female Jim Morrison – which is why she got my [...]

Lilly Scott singing a ‘unique’ version of Sam Cook’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ on American Idol 2010 – Top 10 Girls. This was one of my favourite performances of the Top 10 girls and, like Ellen, I was content to just sit and watch her performance rather than ‘judge’ her. However I did find [...]
