What would we do without our mom? Whether she’s offering comfort via some milk and cookies, or cheering from the sidelines of the state championships, she’s always by your side — even when you don’t come home with the first-place trophy. So for all her grace and patience and hard work and most importantly LOVE, we’ve whipped up this playlist of 10 songs to celebrate the amazing woman she is. Kicking things off up top is Christina Aguilera ‘s emotional ballad and chart-topping 2000 hit, “I Turn to You.” While the song can apply to anyone who’s been there for you, no one has the strength and will to be there till the end like your mom — making this the perfect song to show your appreciation.

Time has rolled out it’s annual roundup of the 100 Most Influential People In The World, and, music-wise, Grammy-dominating diva Adele , chart queen Rihanna and R&B singer/producer Raphael Saadiq all made the cut. The publication notes that its list is made up of the “people who inspire us, entertain us, challenge us and change our world,” and brands them as “breakouts, pioneers, moguls, leaders and icons.” Catch just why these artists were included, and which of their peers did their write-ups for Time , below. Famed fashion designer Stella McCartney penned Rihanna’s entry, and recalled that the first time she met the “We Found Love” hit-maker, they were both on a dance floor, appropriately enough. “She’s one of the coolest, hottest, most talented, most liked, most listened to, most followed, most impressive artists at work today, but she does it in her own stride,” writes McCartney

The country is going insane right now as the Mega Millions lottery has reached a record-breaking $640 million. That sound you hear in the distance is some cha- ching mixed with a little super bass . Nicki Minj is the latest music star to sign with Pepsi Co. — a multi-million dollar deal, Forbes reports — and the “Starships” songstress is set to be the face of the company’s new soda brand Pop. The first commercial, which was shot recently in South America, should arrive within a few months.

Johnny Cash, legendary American singer and songwriter, would have celebrated his 80th birthday today. But even though he’s been gone for nearly a decade, his adventurous music and ground-breaking style continue to echo. His impact on songwriting extends well beyond the genres usually associated with his work — country, folk, rockabilly and blues — as artists of all stripes have revived or revamped his classics over the years.

Whitney Houston may be gone , but she will never be forgotten . However, the same can’t be said for some of her singles over the years. Since The Voice appeared on the scene in the mid-’80s, radio has been kind to such classics as “I Will Always Love You”, “How Will I Know”, “The Greatest Love Of All” and “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”.

For as long as there have been music awards, there have been musicians with opinions about those music awards, and the Grammys are no exception. Depending on your point of view, Arcade Fire trumping commercial heavyweights Lady Gaga, Eminem and Katy Perry for Album of the Year at last year’s ceremony was either the event’s salvation or the moment it jumped the shark. That polarizing victory reignited a decades-old debate about the relevance and future direction of the awards show.

On February 5, Indianapolis will host Super Bowl XLVI — the 46th iteration of America’s biggest game. Millions of fans will gather ’round the television set with seven-layer dip and cold drinks to watch an epic match-up of teams, the year’s funniest and most expensive commercials and most importantly — as far as we’re concerned — Madonna’s Super Bowl halftime show . The newly minted Interscope singer has been on her grind lately, promoting her Golden Globe-winning directorial debut W.E. , unleashing a super sexy fragrance line and gearing up for the release of her 12th studio album MDNA and a world tour.
