When does your mom throwing away your best porno mag take on an epic level of melancholy and despair? When it’s covered by Coldplay , of course! While many pop stars took to Twitter to mourn the loss of the Beastie Boys ‘ Adam “MCA” Yauch, Coldplay delivered a more musical tribute with a cover of “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party),” which works about as well as it could when accompanied by mournful piano, which makes it sound more like you gotta fight for your right to cry alone in your room instead. (But an acoustic “Intergalactic” would probably be even more impossible.) Do you think it’s a fitting tribute?

One person who probably won’t be purchasing Kris Allen ‘s new album Thank You Camellia this May: the cop who busted the “Vision Of Love” singer last night and threw him off the Santa Monica Pier for singing there without a permit. Kris tweeted on Sunday, “How bout the pier in Santa Monica? 8 pm. You…me…couple tunes…ocean breeze…birds pooping on us.

Carrie Underwood stopped by the famed PS 22 Chorus yesterday (April 26) in order to perform her new single “Good Girl” with the kids, and to also melt our hearts. After the all-too-adorable performance — featuring a young boy going head to head with the CMT Award-nominated country singer — Underwood was given a PS 22 t-shirt of her very own. “I feel like I’m a part of the choir now, and my experience at PS 22 has been absolutely amazing,” she said. “I would like to thank all of you guys for having me here and singing my songs and making them sound better than I ever could.

MTV may have J-WOWWed a captive Beacon Theatre crowd with its 2012 summer television lineup in New York Thursday night (Apr. 26), but it was Alicia Keys stripped-down debut of a new song, “Not Even A King”, that wowed us at the event. Under a spotlight, Alicia performed the romantic piano ballad in a leather jacket and red pants, singing out: All the kings horses and all the kings men, charging to get what we got / They offer the crown and they offer the throne, but I’ve already got all I want / All the kings horses and all the kings men, they came on marching through / They offer the world just to get what we got, but I found the world in you.” It’s a stunner that’s sure to become a staple first dance at weddings as soon as the studio version is produced. What do you think of Alicia’s new song?

We know you’ll be shocked to learn that a pop song with seemingly innocuous lyrics actually serves as a double entendre (imagine such a notion!), but that’s just what The Wanted owned up to when they performed their smash “Glad You Came” for Elvis Duran’s Z100 morning show today. “Is this really a song about having an orgasm,” Duran asked before the lads began crooning. He was answered with a chorus of “Yes!” So much for pop mystique. “It’s meant to be a very positive song about going to a party,” said the band’s youngest member, Nathan Sykes

Selena Gomez dropped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest to discuss a whole slew of new projects, including her “Hit the Lights” video, her movie Spring Breakers , and an upcoming Spanish-language album. But guess which topic came up first? Yep — her “Boyfriend,” Justin Bieber . Ryan Seacrest had to ask about the duo’s appearance on the Kiss Cam at the Lakers game, about which Selena gushed: “Oh god, that was probably the most humiliating thing that’s ever happened to me!” Seriously, Selena?

Carly Rae Jepsen ‘s hit song “Call Me Maybe” has been performed by the likes of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez , Katy Perry , and even James Franco . But there’s nothing better than hearing the 26-year-old singer belt out her own Top 10 tune. Bieber’s protege and Canadian Idol alum delivered her first US stage performance at Universal City Walk in Los Angeles, and she drew quite a crowd. Carly is obviously an artist on the rise that we’ll certainly hear more from, so watch her live performance, maybe?

You’ve probably heard One Direction ‘s “What Makes You Beautiful” enough times to last a lifetime. That is, unless you’re one of the few lucky fans who caught the Brit boy band’s special concert at the El Rey theater in Los Angeles, as they will never, ever be satiated. Presented by VEVO Lift, 1D performed four songs in total at their exclusive show, including their smash single, which you can watch above. Keep a lookout for the other three live performances, too.
