The Tiny house movement is one that is spreading also in Europe. The regulations regarding them are a little bit different on this old continent than in the USA and the reasons why it began to exist are also different. In the USA, as many things it started as a hippy way of life, off grids, free and wild.
Of course it also developed for it was way cheaper than regular houses, you didn’t need land for them, much smaller in terms of cost efficiency and of course the community and lifestyle that came with it.
In Europe the story is a bit different. Different because it means a more conscious kind of lifestyle, it has some philosophy behind, but of course it also has all the other reasons than in the States too.
If we are talking in terms of regulations, these also differ from those from the USA as it is a wider and larger country, the tiny is also not so tiny as in Europe where there is not so much space (free land) and the urbanism plans were thought out a thousand years ago when everything was much narrower and smaller.
Now, it is a trend, a trend that is spreading also to the more remote countries of Europe, so also to the East. Well there is a need for them, economically, but people are more traditional thinking in these parts than in other parts of Europe. There are parts in Eastern Europe where the houses are tiny traditionally but they have always been like this.
Tiny houses that would fit in the trend are dwelled by people that have travelled a bit in the world rather than by the traditional people. That is also the reason why in these parts of Europe there are companies that imported the building techniques from the west rather than they have developed their own techniques.
But, fortunately there are also examples of this kind. Eco Tiny House from Miercurea Ciuc, Romania, is a company that has developed its own concept of building tiny houses and became one of the leading companies in the mobile tiny house segment, and one of the first to build such houses in Romania. It has many success stories and has received a few awards for their excellent work done in this field.
These awards are the Employer Branding Special Award for SMEs in Transylvania and the Lovable Workplace Award. Their aim is to reconnect people to nature for they work in the heart of Transylvania where you can still find nature at its purest.
They are not just building eco houses for living but they have a lot of other solutions for building offices and practical spaces for different purposes.
