Newport Beach Film Festival Announces 2013 Line-Up

Celebrated as one of the leading lifestyle film festivals in the United States, the 14th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival (http://www.newportbeachfilmfest.com) brings the best of classic and contemporary filmmaking from around the world to Newport Beach for eight spectacular days, April 25 May 2, 2013.

In 2013, the Newport Beach Film Festival will showcase more than 300 films from 40 countries, and will host more than 50,000 attendees during the eight-day event. In addition, the Festival will host celebrity-studded red carpet galas, nightly special events, compelling conversations with filmmakers, international spotlights, and seminars. The Festival also offers filmgoers unique opportunities to mingle with celebrities, filmmakers from around the globe, and film industry professionals all in the spectacular seaside setting of Newport Beach.

Confirmed in this years film line-up are: Fly Me to the Moon, starring Diane Krueger; How to Make Money Selling Drugs from Executive Producer Adrian Grenier; and Welcome to the Jungle starring Adam Brody.

The Newport Beach Film Festival will kick off on Thursday, April 25, with an Opening Night Gala featuring a performance by American Idol star Taylor Hicks. Hicks will bring his unique sound of southern soul, R & B, country and blues, to the stage to benefit the Festival and its programs.

The 14th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival will have a strong music presence this year, says Gregg Schwenk, CEO, Executive Director, and Founder of the Newport Beach Film Festival. We are thrilled to present several films on the topic of music, and to infuse the genre into several of the Festivals headline events.

New this year is the launch of the Festivals Music Series, showcasing films centered on music. The Newport Beach Film Festivals Music Film Series puts music center stage showcasing music videos, documentary, and narrative films propelled by music. Highlighting performances, historical headlines, struggling musicians and their unique stories, this growing series explores the binding relationship that links music and film. Two of the Music Film Series screenings will showcase documentaries on the Grammy Award-winning band, Green Day. It is expected that Green Day band members will appear at the Festival, as well.

Several other genres will star at the Newport Beach Film Festival this year, including action sports, environmental, family, youth, collegiate, and more.
